First developed by Robert Jemison in the 1920s, Redmont was the home of Birmingham’s iron and steel industry leaders and early bankers. Much of the area’s history is still being celebrated through various landmarks, such as the 56-foot tall cast iron Vulcan Statue at the Vulcan Park and Museum. The neighborhood is perfect for young families and outdoor enthusiasts, with its close proximity to green, open spaces such as the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Red Mountain Park. Moreover, wide sidewalks and numerous pocket parks make the neighborhood highly walkable and dog-friendly. Due to its high elevation, homeowners can also enjoy gorgeous panoramic views of Birmingham. The Redmont real estate market is dominated by single-family homes, with architectural styles ranging from Colonial to Craftsman. There’s also a great selection of vacant lots, condos, and townhomes to choose from. As of September, 2022, the median list price was around $420,000 across all property types, with some single-family homes priced as high as $1,450,000 and above.
