The Over the Mountain area is composed of several well-known Birmingham suburbs, including Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, and Homewood. Some North Shelby County communities located south of Birmingham are also part of the area. Homes for sale in the Over the Mountain area widely vary in price. It all depends on where you look. The more affluent communities of Mountain Brook, for instance, command higher home prices than other parts of Over the Mountain. It’s a mecca for anyone interested in items like authentic Indian artifacts, antique furniture, vintage jewelry, used books, and sporting memorabilia.
 
    • Old Town Helena – A vibrant village located half an hour away from Birmingham, Old Town Helena is home to a wonderful assortment of charming boutiques, shops, and eateries, most of which are housed in restored buildings from the early 20th century.
